Visitor Hours & Guidelines

We understand visitors play an important role in helping patients recover. Please speak with your nurse regarding specific visitor requests.

The following policy outlines guidelines for visitors to the Feinberg Pavilion. Please view Prentice Women's Hospital information for current visiting guidelines at Prentice.

Updates to Visitor Policies during Flu Season

Effective immediately, we have enacted restrictions to our visitor policies in all inpatient floors and rooms in Feinberg, Galter and Olson Pavilions and in Prentice Women's Hospital due to the H1N1 flu in order to keep our patients safe.

Protecting our Patients and You

Learn about the symptoms of H1N1 (Swine Flu) before visiting a loved one in the hospital.

Hours

  • 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Visitors may be asked to wait outside the patient's room while the medical staff provides care.

Visitor Passes

  • All visitors must obtain a pass at the information desk on the first floor, including expectant fathers. All visitors will be screened, and anyone exhibiting flu-like symptoms will not be allowed to visit without prior approval.
  • The visitor pass is valid only for the date and area displayed and must be worn at all times while inside the hospital.

Overnight Visitors

  • One adult visitor is allowed to stay overnight. Each room has a pull-out window seat that may be used as a bed. However, during our restricted visitor policies, people with flu-like symptoms will not be allowed to visit inpatient rooms.

Children Visitors

Children Visitors at Prentice Women's Hospital

Effective immediately, children ages 18 and under are not allowed to visit Prentice Women's Hospital without prior approval from a nurse or physician. For information about children visiting Prentice, view Prentice Women's Hospital Visiting Hours/Information.

Children Visitors in Other Areas of the Hospital (Feinberg, Galter and Olson Pavilions)

No visitors under 18 will be allowed to visit inpatient care areas, even if they have received a flu vaccine. For more information about children visiting the hospital, please view Feinberg, Galter and Olson Pavilion visiting guidelines.

Discounted Lodging

For out of town patients and visiting family members, the hospital has negotiated reduced rates at a variety of hotels near the hospital.  Learn more about hotels that offer discounted lodging, and call individual hotels to speak to in-house reservations. Remember to ask about availability with the "Northwestern" discounted rate.
