School of Radiography

Learning how to deliver compassionate and quality patient care is also emphasized. In Northwestern Memorial's state-of-the-art facilities, students are taught with the most advanced technological and diagnostic equipment available.

The 21-month training begins in September and is limited to ten students per year. Students attend approximately 500 hours of didactic and laboratory instruction and approximately 1600 hours of clinical instruction to learn the technical skills required to effectively perform radiographic procedures. This is a full-time program; students are expected to be here from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

  • ARRT registered Radiographers

  • Registered Nurses
  • Administrative and support staff

Program Mission Statement

The Radiography Program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital will provide students with state-of-the-art imaging facilities and a learning environment that fosters the development of clinical and patient care skills which are necessary to competently function as entry-level radiographers. A competency-based curriculum will allow students to work collaboratively with other healthcare and imaging professionals and acquire problem-solving and critical thinking skills necessary for successful employment in the radiologic sciences.

Program Goals

In support of the program's mission statement, the following have been developed.

Upon completion of the radiography program, the graduate will:

  • Practice as entry-level radiographers.
  • Demonstrate appropriate communication skills and effectively communicate with patients and other healthcare professionals.
  • Employ problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in the practice of radiography.
  • Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors and a commitment to lifelong learning.

This program will:

  • Meet the needs of the community by producing qualified, competent radiographers.
