Northwestern Memorial Hospital offers student services to assure the achievement of students learning outcomes and program goals. Services provided by the programs include, but are not limited to the following:
Health Learning Center
Northwestern Memorial's Health Learning Center (HLC), located in the Galter Pavilion, is one of the largest health learning facilities in the United States. The HLC provides numerous reference materials related to the curriculum, including books, journals, pamphlets, videos, audiotapes, and provides individualized assistance for each student. Workstations with internet access are also available. A program specific orientation of the HLC is provided for each new class.
Corporate Health Service
NMH Corporate Health Service (CHS) provides annual influenza vaccines and Respiratory Fit Testing. NMH offers a physician referral service on the NMH website: www.nmh.org
Academic/Clinical Assistance
Didactic
instructors make a concerted effort to provide additional assistance to
students who need reinforcement activity. All didactic instructors provide
contact information so students may benefit from their assistance. The program
director and clinical supervisor are available for didactic, clinical
assistance and/or tutoring at the student's request.
Personal Counseling
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers confidential, cost-free assessment and referral services by a professional counselor to students in Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Uniforms
The hospital provides nine articles of clothing free-of-charge for each student. Students can purchase additional NM apparel and items through the NM Uniform and Logo Shoppe located on campus with a 10% discount.
Career Planning
The Program Directors and representatives from the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Human Resources Department provide sessions on resume writing and interviewing skills in order to prepare graduates for a career in their field.
Professional Societies and Seminars
Students receive discounted membership rates from their national professional society.
